Marla Corson (Reading, Pennsylvania, USA) and Jason Suiter (Davenport, Iowa, USA) will help Dr. Mihail Zahariade (The Romanian Institute of Thracology) in his fifth season of excavating a fort at Halmyris to discover how the Romans accommodated local customs and introduced their own—a fundamental problem for any civilization. Located where the Danube River forks and empties into the Black Sea, Halmyris was occupied for 1,100 years from the Iron Age to the Byzantine period. June 2-15
