Stol is one of only five international experts selected for this prestigious honor during 2007. His work has been instrumental in the development of fusion- and solid-state-based welding processes used in a wide range of applications.
Stol, a resident of Mt. Lebanon, was inducted at the AWS Annual Meeting in Chicago. The honorary title of AWS Fellow was established in 1990 to recognize members who have made distinguished contributions and promoted and sustained professionalism in the field of welding science and technology.
Stol is a 23-year employee of Alcoa and holds 37 patents around the world. His bachelor’s and master’s degree in welding engineering are from Ohio State University.
