William F. (Bill) Christopher is responsible for Alcoa's global efforts in the aerospace, automotive and commercial transportation areas. He was appointed group president for Alcoa's aerospace and commercial transportation groups in September 2002 and assumed additional responsibility for automotive in January 2003. This group includes Alcoa Auto and Truck Structures, Alcoa Building and Construction Systems, Alcoa Electrical and Electronics Solutions, Alcoa Fastening Systems, Alcoa Power and Propulsion, and Alcoa Wheel Products businesses. In addition, he is a member of Alcoa's Executive Council, the senior leadership group that provides strategic direction for the company. Bill serves as the director of Alcoa's Global Aerospace Market Sector.

Bill joined Alcoa in 1975 in the Finance organization in Pittsburgh following graduation from Penn State University with an accounting degree. He held a series of financial management positions in Massena (N.Y.), Davenport (Iowa) and in Tennessee until he was named sheet mill manager at Davenport in 1988. Three years later he became vice president, Commercial Products Sales and Marketing, also based in Davenport. Bill was named president of Alcoa Forged Products, the Cleveland-based forgings and castings business, in 1996. In 2001 he assumed responsibility for the global deployment of the Alcoa Business System, and the company's customer and quality initiatives. In October of 2002 he was named President of Alcoa's Aerospace and Commercial Transportation Group. In January of 2003 his role was expanded to include Alcoa's automotive businesses. He is currently president for Alcoa's Engineered Solutions Group with $6.5 billion in sales and more than 50,000 employees around the world. He was elected a vice president of Alcoa in 1999 and an executive vice president in 2001.

Bill obtained an MBA degree in 1980 from Clarkson University. He serves on the executive committee and is a member of the board of directors of the Greater Cleveland Partnership (GCP) as well as chairman of the GCP's Government Affairs Council. He also serves on Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson's Task Force for Economic Development.

Bill was born March 17, 1954, in Ridley Park, Pa. He and his wife, Cathy, and their three children, Bryan, Tony and Megan, reside in Cleveland, Ohio.
