Alcoa Foundation presents grant to Prevent Child Abuse Illinois

Alcoa Foundation presented a $50,000 grant to Prevent Child Abuse Illinois for an initiative that studies the affects of methamphetamine on children from birth to young adulthood. The grant was presented at the organization’s annual meeting, where Alcoa Foundation was named a “Partner in Prevention,” one of the organization’s top three annual awards. The meeting was attended by about 450 social workers, a representative of the attorney general’s office and the governor’s wife. Alcoa Foundation provided the start-up grant for the program, a state-wide initiative in Illinois that is designed to eliminate the risk of harm to children caused by the manufacture, sale and use of methamphetamine. The initiative will help facilitate and provide public awareness, training and reference materials. Alcoans from Alcoa Flexible Packaging in Wheaton, Alcoa Engineered Products in Morris, Reynolds Food Packaging in Grant Park, Alcoa Mill Products in Danville and Alcoa KAMA in Manteno presented the check. AFP’s customer, Abbot Labs, is also participating in the program by donating in-kind creative design services for a brochure.
