Relationship Building

Alcoa Mill Products in Danville, Illinois, USA is making a positive impact by building relationships in the community. A team of Alcoans participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and walked more than 60 miles continuously for 24 hours, raising $1,800 for cancer research. Alcoans from Danville also planted 10 trees on Alcoa property and gave trees to each employee to plant at home. As part of Alcoa’s Ten Million Trees program, Alcoa Danville also donated more than a dozen pine trees to the local Boy Scouts troop to plant at their camp. A local fourth grade student is also benefiting from the help of an Alcoan in Danville who is serving as his Big Brother through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. Alcoan Chris Petrarca is helping to boost the child’s confidence by helping him to read and learn about computers.
