Summer of Community Connections

Alcoa's Davenport (Iowa, USA) Works celebrated 60 years as a member of the Quad-Cities by sponsoring the building of the 60th Habitat for Humanity house in the city. And in July, for the 11th year in a row, Alcoa Davenport has sponsored the Alcoa Jr. Bix, one of the largest children's races in the U.S.

Dozens of Alcoans volunteered their time to construct the newest Habitat house, which costs about US$70,000. This is Alcoa's third Habitat project in Davenport.

More than 3,000 youngsters participated in the annual Jr. Bix race, a prequel to the QC Times Bix 7 (mile) run. The racing events are one of the biggest summer time weekend events in the Quad Cities.
