The 400 m2 Alcoa stand will showcase the latest products and services from its main market segments: Automotive, Aerospace, Building & Construction, Commercial Transportation and Industrial & Primary.

While technology and innovation are major tools by which we can achieve future reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, aluminum itself has an important role to play through reducing weight and recycling. In all areas of transportation, for example, aluminium is decreasing fuel consumption by reducing vehicle weight. Every kilogram of aluminium replacing heavier materials in a vehicle can reduce CO2 emissions by 20 kilograms during its life-cycle.

Alcoa and the Aluminium Award
Another way to support sustainable innovations is Alcoa's sponsorship of the '2008 European Aluminium Award', a competition for the aluminium industry's customers and end users to gain recognition for their outstanding solutions. On the evening of September 23rd a special award ceremony will take place in the "Europa" hall at the Essen Congress Center West and all nominees for this prestigious prize will be exhibited in the "Galeria" at the Aluminium 2008 fair.

In conjunction with Alcoa's presence at Aluminium 2008, leading specialists of the company will present at the 11th International Conference of Aluminium Alloys to take place from September 22 - 26 in Aachen. Several presentations, including two keynote speeches, will showcase Alcoa's latest science-based developments.
